April is National Donate Life Month, a time to celebrate the power of organ, eye, and tissue donation to save and improve lives. The need for organ donors in New York State is critical. Every 15 hours someone dies while waiting for an organ transplant. Every two and a half hours, a New Yorker’s name is added to the waiting list. To raise awareness about the need for more organ donors, Southampton Hospital is partnering with the New York Organ Donor Network (NYODN) in April.
Please join us on Thursday, April 24 at 8:00 a.m. in Parrish Memorial Hall for a special program featuring NYODN experts and individuals whose lives have been touched by organ donation. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up with the New York State Donate Life Registry. Call (631) 726-0452 to register.
If you cannot attend our event, please sign up next time you visit the DMV, when you register to vote, or at www.HateTheWait.org. Join the three million New Yorkers who have enrolled to be organ donors. Each of us can make a difference! Just one organ donor alone can save up to eight lives. Additionally, please share your decisions with your colleagues, family, and friends, and encourage them to do the same.
