Southampton Hospital is proud to offer a pet therapy program
to bring comfort and joy to patients. The program is run in partnership with Angel on a Leash, an organization that
promotes the role of the human-animal bond in enhancing human health and
quality of life. Dogs and their handlers are certified through Pet Partners, a nonprofit organization
that trains animals and handlers for assisted therapy programs nationwide.

After my dog and I become a certified dog-handler therapy team, how do
we start volunteering at Southampton Hospital? When you have received
your certification from Pet Partners, please call Southampton Hospital’s Pet
Therapy Coordinator to learn more about
volunteering and to set up an interview.
What is the time commitment for
a pet therapy volunteer at Southampton Hospital? We ask that all
dog-handler therapy teams be able to commit to a four-hour
shift each week.
