Free Health Insights Lecture on Better Hearing: Improving the Quality of Your Life on January 22nd
Southampton, NY – A free Health Insights seminar “Better Hearing: Improve Your Quality of Life” by Dr. Barbara Prestano, AuD, Directory of Audiology at Peconic Ear, Nose, Throat & Facial Plastic Surgery will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 2 pm at Parrish Memorial Hall. Parrish Memorial Hall is located on the corner of Lewis Street and Herrick Road.
Hearing loss affects over 30 million people of all ages, not just seniors. Many people under the age of 40 have some degree of hearing loss and can benefit from amplification. The sooner someone seeks help for a hearing loss, the better the outcome. With today’s technological advances audiologists can help people hear even better than before. It takes the average person 7 – 10 years to acknowledge hearing difficulty. The slow progression of hearing loss makes it difficult for people to admit they have a problem. Unfortunately, this denial causes withdrawal from social activities, strained relationships with family and friends, as well as depression and isolation. This seminar will address these issues and let people know that they are not alone and can take steps to improve the quality of their life.
Dr. Prestano is a NYS licensed Audiologist and Hearing Instrument Specialist and is certified by the American Board of Audiology. She is the Director of Audiology for Peconic Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery and has been helping people hear better for over 17 years.
As part of the seminar, there will be a free coupon for a complimentary hearing test at one of Peconic’s offices located in Southampton, Aquebogue or Greenport. Refreshments will be served and goody bags with a selection of helpful items will be distributed to participants.
