Ways to Give

DONATE NOW

There are a wide variety of ways for interested individuals to support quality healthcare for the East End:

Major Gifts

Through our Major Gifts Program, donors have the ability to provide major support and to make a particulary significant contribution to our efforts.  Please contact Darren Farlow, Southampton Hospital Foundation President, for more information at 631-726-8700.

.

Unrestricted Gifts are especially valuable because they provide general support for the Hospital and can be used where most needed.

Restricted Gifts benefit specific programs of a donor’s choosing. Funds may be designated for any number of programs or services.

Cash Gifts may be made to The Foundation either by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to The Southampton Hospital Foundation, while credit card contributions can be made by calling The Foundation at 631-726-8700. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted.

Matching Gifts enable donors to double or triple their contributions. Matching gift forms, which are usually available from a business or organization’s Human Resource Department, should be completed by the donor and mailed to The Foundation along with the gift.

Capital Gifts support the purchase of new equipment, new construction or the renovation of existing facilities at Southampton Hospital.

Memorial and Honor Giving – Many individuals find great satisfaction in making honorial and memorial gifts to The Foundation. Gifts may be made in remembrance of loved ones or friends, or to recognize a special occasion … the outstanding care provided by a physician or nurse, a birthday, an anniversary or a holiday. When The Foundation receives such gifts, a special letter of recognition is sent to the person or family of the donor’s choosing. The donor will also receive a letter acknowledging the tax-deductible contribution.

Charitable Bequests allow a donor to contribute a portion or fixed amount of their estate to The Foundation. Another option is to list The Southampton Hospital Foundation as a residual beneficiary, leaving The Foundation what remains after specific bequests to loved ones are paid. Bequests may be either unrestricted or restricted.

Life Income Gifts allow a donor to make a gift of cash or appreciated property to The Foundation, which will at the same time enable the donor to receive annual payments for a lifetime or specific period of time. Several options are available including gift annuities, pooled income funds and charitable remainder trusts.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities may allow a donor to avoid paying capital gains tax, reduce estate tax and receive an income tax deduction.

Life Insurance can help a donor make a larger gift than originally thought possible. The Southampton Hospital Foundation can be named as a beneficiary and/or a gift of the ownership interest in an existing policy can be made. Another option is to establish a new life insurance policy specifically benefiting The Foundation.
