Hospital to Host Mental Health Awareness Event with East End Clinical Connection During National Mental Health Awareness Week (October 6-12)

Southampton Hospital and the East End Clinical Connection (EECC) are co-sponsoring a special event on Tuesday, October 8th from 7 to 9 PM in Parrish Memorial Hall, Herrick Road at the corner of Lewis Street in Southampton. The event is a Community Conversation about Mental Health Needs on the East End, and will feature some local and greater Long Island panelists to address the issue of whether residents can access the mental health care they may need.

“This free program falls during National Mental Health Awareness Week, October 6-12, 2013,” says Nancy Beckett-Lawless, co-chair of the East End Clinical Connection, “and we are pleased to be cooperating with Southampton Hospital in marking this important occasion.”  

The panel moderated by Richard Lawless Th.D., Pastoral Counseling, will include Michael Stoltz, LCSW, Executive Director, Clubhouse of Suffolk; Alexandra Feely LCSW of the Retreat and the East Hampton Healthcare Center; Dr. Lois R. Favre, Superintendent, Bridgehampton UFSD; Virginia St. John, LCSW/R director of East End DBT and a member of the East Hampton Disability Advisory Board; and Steven Chassman, LCSW, CASAC, Clinical Director LICADD and The Poets of Well Being. 

The East End Clinical Connection, an organization comprised of mental health practitioners and organizations providing behavioral health treatment services to residents living on the East End, will forgo their regularly scheduled monthly meeting to host this very special event which is open to the public and free of charge.  Information including flyers, brochures, and an EECC directory of local behavioral health providers will be available.  Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited.
