SWINE INFLUENZA (H1N1)
The 24-hour toll-free hotline number for the NY Department of Health (NYDOH) is 1-800-808-1987
Southampton Hospital’s first priority is always the safety and care of our patients, visitors and employees. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Fred Weinbaum, is working closely with New York State and Suffolk County Departments of Health to monitor the Swine Flu health problem. During this time, we are on alert and are prepared to act accordingly if we encounter a patient who is showing respiratory symptoms similar to those of Swine Flu. As a Center for Disease Control and Prevention secure site, if the CDC, NYS and Suffolk County Departments of Health determine that antiviral distribution is necessary, we will be able to comply. In addition, we are keeping local school districts informed and will provide support as needed. The best prevention is thorough hand cleansing with soap and water and coughing or sneezing into your elbow instead of into the air. If you are ill, do not go to work; if you are moderately or seriously ill with a fever or respiratory problem, see your physician.
