
The Residency Program in Community Osteopathic Medicine
Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine
OGME-1P
AMBULATORY NEUROMUSCULOSKELETAL MEDICINE
For the ambulatory neuromusculoskeletal medicine experience, residents work under the supervision of board-certified attendings in an outpatient setting. The clinical sites are located off the hospital campus. The settings provide more of a “private practice” rather than an “institutional” atmosphere. Residents in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine spend one day per week in the Southampton Osteopathy practice of Dr. Stephen Braun, developing a panel of patients whom they will continue to care for the duration of their training program.
AMBULATORY MEDICINE (1 Rotation)
On the Ambulatory Medicine Service, residents have full daily responsibilities in the out-patient setting.
EMERGENCY MEDICINE (3 Rotations)
On the Emergency Medicine Service, residents work under the supervision of emergency medicine attendings. Time on Emergency Medicine service will be as follows:
- Four (4) weeks of hospital-based emergency medicine
- Eight (8) weeks of community-based urgent care medicine
MEDICINE (3 Rotations)
On the Medicine Service, the residents will work side-by-side with the attending Internists. Time on Medicine Service is broken down as follows:
- Twelve (12) weeks of inpatient medicine
MUSCULOSKELETAL MEDICINE (1 Rotation)
On the Musculoskeletal Service, residents work under the supervision of board certified orthopaedics, rheumatologists, and neuromusculoskelatal physicians in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Residents will also be involved in rehabilitation services at Southampton Hospital and satellite sites.
OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY (1 Rotation)
On the OB/GYN Service, interns work under the supervision of attending physicians. Labor and Delivery and inpatient OB/GYN services are all provided at Southampton Hospital.
PEDIATRICS (1 Rotation)
On the Pediatric Service, interns work under the supervision of attending physicians. The Pediatric rotation provides experience in the basic fields of pediatrics and a broad basis for future practice. This rotation provides more of a “private practice” rather than an “institutional” experience.
RADIOLOGY (.5 Rotation)
On the Radiology Service, residents have full daily responsibilities in the in and out-patient setting.
SURGERY (1.5 Rotation)
On the Surgical Service, residents work under the supervision of attending surgeons. This is an inpatient service broken down as follows:
- Four (4) weeks of general surgery
- Two (2) weeks of orthopaedic surgery
VACATION
Twenty (20) days -- At the discretion of the Program Director.

- Four (4) weeks of hospital-based emergency medicine
