Scholarships Awarded to Three Children of Southampton Hospital Employees

Beginning in 1976, Southampton Hospital’s Board of Directors bestowed scholarships, ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 to graduating high school seniors who are children of Hospital employees. The Hospital’s Board Chairman, Rev. Peter Larsen, presided over the 2013 presentation at Parrish Memorial Hall on May 31.  

Brian Unruh of Baiting Hollow, NY (son of Hospital nurse Karla Unruh) received the $2,000 Robert Holmes Scholarship, which commemorates Mr. Holmes’ 39 years of service as Assistant Administrator of the Hospital. Margretta Anderson, daughter of Robert and Charlotte Holmes and resident of Westhampton Beach, presented the award. 

Olivia Coley-Bishop of Sayville, NY (daughter of Hospital social worker Maureen Coley) received the Centennial Scholarship Award presented by Stephen Shapoff, a member of the Southampton Hospital Board of Directors, in the amount of $1,500. The award was named in honor of the 2009 Centennial milestone for the Hospital.  

Gina Curreri of Southampton, NY (daughter of Hospital radiology technician Pam Curreri) received the Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 funded by Dr. Peter Michalos. Southampton Hospital President and CEO Robert S. Chaloner presented the award.
